Hi I'm Natalia. I specialise in solving complex problems. From an early age, I thrived in complexity — the more complex the problem the better. I could always see clearly how all the pieces fit together. I am definitely a "big picture" thinker. But solving complex problems isn't just about seeing the big picture. I believe that it also requires a large dose of creativity. It is the left brain dancing with the right brain in perfect harmony.
While I grew up at the intersection of art and analytical thinking, I made the choice to go into a highly analytical field. By training, I'm an infectious disease epidemiologist and modeller (from Imperial College London). I have spent nearly two decades working on solving some of the world's most complex problems — in some of the most complex places. I have shaped national-level policy and action in countries such as Pakistan and Afghanistan, and global policy and strategy at the World Health Organization (WHO).
However, it seemed that whatever I did, the creative side of me would seep through into my work. I was always being pulled into these two opposing directions — one highly analytical, and the other deeply creative. For many years I thought I needed to choose one of the other, but as it turns out I much prefer to live as a bridge between worlds — complex and simple, analytical and creative.
I created the CTOS framework to help people feel confident solving complex problems, and do so in a fun simple way. I created the CTOS Squad based on different aspects of myself that I tap into to solve complex problems.
